Project Description:

 US 1 Replace Bridge over Jewfish Creek is a Design-Build roadway and bridge project involving reconstruction of approximately 4.5 miles of US1 at the north end of the Florida Keys. The project includes construction of a new 7,500-foot high level bridge, reconstruction of US1 and installation of barrier wall between the northbound and southbound traffic. The northbound shoulder of the new two-lane roadway will be constructed to accommodate traffic in the event of a hurricane evacuation and eight box culverts will be installed to serve as crocodile crossings under US1. Work will also include the construction of retaining walls, all associated drainage, fencing, signing, roadway striping and removal of the existing bridges.Triplett King & Associates designed a crane work trestle to assist the contractor during the construction of a new high clearance structure. This work trestle was designed with configuration flexibility in mind. This work trestle has at least 6 different configurations to support cranes, drill rigs, and other equipment. By using a work trestle the contractor was able to use smaller equipment than would have otherwise been required.
