Project Description:
Triplett-King, along with F&ME performed the QA/QC, inspection & materials testing for the following projects in District 3, Greenville/Anderson Counties during the previous 3 year, “On-Call” CEI contract:
This $70 million project consisted of over 14 miles of Interstate 85 roadway widening including 6 bridges and 2 culvert extension structures. The existing 4-lane facility was widened to 6 lanes by adding an additional north and southbound lane. The northbound lanes were constructed with asphalt base, binder, surface and friction courses. The southbound lanes were constructed with concrete paving throughout the project. Triplett-King performed the asphalt and asphalt plant inspection and testing for over 300,000 tons of asphalt base, binder and surface course. As an extension of the SCDOT staff, Triplett-King performed AC content, Marshall Pills, Rice test, Wash gradation, & Dust/Asphalt ratio testing at the on-site contractor’s laboratory and asphalt plant. This project was extremely successful due to the partnering efforts of all parties involved.
