Project Description:
The SCDOT has retained Triplett-King to manage the construction of the widening of US 278, a $16,000,000+ project in lower Beaufort County. This major artery carries the majority of traffic on and off of Hilton Head Island, a high profile international resort area. The project is a joint venture between Beaufort County Council and the SCDOT, with the majority of construction being performed at night due to the heavy traffic volumes. The existing road is a two lane divided highway, with an additional lane being added to each side, with some re-alignments of intersections. Triplett-King is providing inspection services to insure that construction activities are performed in accordance with SCDOT guidelines. Expert project management services are also being provided to insure that the construction proceeds with minimal interruption to traffic flow and that any delay conflicts are resolved immediately to avoid inconvenience to traffic any longer than necessary.
