Project Description:
Triplett-King & Associates conducted preliminary design and produced final design plans for this privately owned covered bridge. The bridge serves as a cornerstone landmark that will be crossed as entering a prestigious residential community located in Hendersonville, NC.
Preliminary design for this bridge consisted of extensive owner/consultant coordination to produce a bridge that would provide exceptional aesthetics while maintaining functionality. The final product is a one lane with pedestrian walkways, 200-foot bridge with a 100-foot covered center portion. Fifty-foot approaches are located on either end of the covering and are constructed of short timber spans on timber piles. The 100-foot center consists of a 3-span timber cover and deck on concealed steel wide-flange beams. Timber caps on drilled timber piles support the superstructure.
