Project Description:

The S-728 (Herlong Avenue) bridge replacement over Wildcat Creek was built in stages in order to maintain the flow of traffic. This bridge is located just before the major intersection of Herlong Ave. and SC 5; the widening of S-728 allowed for such improvements as turning lanes and sidewalks. The new bridge is a 74 ft. long, 3 span concrete flat slab bridge supported on HP 12x53 steel piles at the end bents and 3’-0” diameter columns on spread footings at the interior bents. At the request of the owner, Triplett-King & Associates, Inc. provided the plans for an alternate foundation design using drilled shafts at the interior bents.
