Project Description:
Triplett-King was selected by the SCDOT to perform the bridge design for the replacements of the US 17A Bridge over the Combahee River and two overflow relief bridges over Combahee Swamp in Colleton and Hampton Counties. Triplett-King is managing all sub consultants for bridge hydrology/hydraulic design, environmental documents and permitting, geotechnical exploration and is currently completing preliminary plans. The main river bridge will consist of a new, 840 foot long, 14 span, Type II prestressed concrete beam superstructure supported on drilled shaft foundations. The two overflow relief bridges will consists of 240 foot and 270 foot long, concrete flat slab bridges supported on 18 inch square prestressed concrete piling. Design is based on a road closing for replacement and value engineering, constructability and construction access issues have been reviewed during preliminary design.
